Mr. Thomas, The following lines were spoken extempore on a
young Lady in Newport, who pretended to be at first greatly
frighted at the sight of a British
officer, but in a short time became enamoured, not only with
him, but the whole corps, and is
now as compleat a trull as walks the British camp.
   Such was a Newport maiden's fright
   When first a red coat came in sight,
   Behind the door she hid her face;
   Next time at distance viewed the lace.
